Women’s World Cup Scandal

In a strange turn of events, officials in the Wizarding Sports department announced the disqualification of the Siberian Sirens in the Quidditch World Cup Women’s Division. Bertha Brabbitts confessed to using Felix Felicis in their final game against the Finland Faeries. Ms. Brabbitts isn’t the only person to blame for this shameful cheating tactic. Investigators discovered the lucky potion had been handed out to all players on the team, by their captain, Clarice Witherby.

Ms. Witherby refused to comment to any and all reporters, however, we have learned the current players on the Sirens team is now banned. Along with the 7 million galleon fine the owner has to pay, he must also recruit a whole new team. Officials were unable to link the owner with the crime, but they do believe he will be more cautious in the future. Former team members have all been taken to Azkaban, pending trial. Teams competing in the Quidditch World Cup, Women’s Division this weekend are the Holyhead Harpies and the Finland Faeries.

Yes, it’s time for another issue of Gryff Greatness. There has been several changes within Gryffindor since the last issue.

• Prof. Sorcha MacSween has been appointed Interim HoH until a permanent HoH is appointed.
• Our Professors and Student Leaders have set up an Appreciation party in the McGonagall room. Remember to check that out.
• We will soon be publishing our very own House Newspaper! Any Gryffindor interested in writing an article, should either sign up in the Lion’s Roar, or pm Katherine Jordan.
• We still have Gryffindor History Volumes that need to be written. Any Gryffindor interested in helping out, may sign up in the topic, or pm Lyra Elani.

Now, my fellow Gryffs, this weekend is the final Quidditch game of the season, Gryffindor vs Slytherin. We’ve done well so far, but we can’t let that go to our heads. Join with me in wishing our Team the best of luck. On another note, don’t forget to check out the McGonagall Room.

This morning, as I sat in my parlor to enjoy some tea, I glanced at my crystal ball. This has become a habit as of late, and rarely am I disappointed. There was a green fog swirling inside, which had me setting my cup down and moving closer to view the scene. The green fog slowly evaporated, showing me a part of Hogwarts grounds I did not immediately recognize. There were some students playing games, and some were simply sitting beneath trees and enjoying the day. Those were the normal activities you expect to see, however, the scene zoned in on something completely out of the ordinary. Slytherin students sitting alongside Hufflepuff students, without attempting to curse any of them! I must admit, I quickly pulled out parchment, ink and quill to write this date down for future references.

There was one young puff girl I’d seen in previous viewings, who was oddly fascinated with Slytherin boys. Exactly what she found so interesting with their heads, I’ve no idea, perhaps she was checking to see if they dandruff? Hm.. anywho, this young girl was once again “inspecting” Slytherin boys, until a few of the older Slytherins each cast a spell on the girl - causing her to itch and burn anytime she looked at, or was close to a Slytherin student. Unable to control myself, I began laughing, until I notice the fog filling the crystal ball once more.

Once again, it’s time to find out what’s been happening in the wonderful world of Puff!

• Unless you’ve had your head in the sand, or living under a rock, you’d know it’s the Puffs favorite time of year again - Puff month! It’s the Luck of the Puff, and this year we have many Puffs offering their services, namely to be dunked or have potions thrown at them (like me!) Come visit their booths and take aim! The Profs. are not forgotten, with some Puff favorites waiting to be pied in the face! Hooray!
• The Rainbow Court gives a chance for all houses to have a bit of royalty and share in the festivities. I hear the Slytherin Court is becoming crowded with Slytherins, disgruntled that they didn’t make the court.
• Join in the Lucky Leprechaun games. A very popular one is “Follow the Rainbow”, being organized by returning Puff Professor Prof. Bryant Waters, who has thrown himself with enthusiasm into all things puffy and introduced himself to those that hadn’t met him before. Welcome back to Puff House, Prof!
• The Golden Ball is ladies choice this year, with many young girls trying to pluck up the courage to ask that guy they’ve had their eye on for a dance. A popular area is the Beginner’s Luck room, designed with first and second years in mind, but anyone can visit, to meet new people and hang out.
• The Puff newspaper is looking for, well, everything! Except an editor, which is none other than yours truely, Lorinda Swansong! We need folks interested in writing articles, graphics, comics. And of course, a name! PM me if you want to write a column/article, or post in the thread in the common room with your suggestions!
• Puff of the Month is my mentee, Arliss MacSween! Well done! Nominations for April (the month of my birthday - hint hint!) can be made now - just PM Davey!
• The Burrow is closed this month. Why you ask? It’s Puff month, you fool! But if you’re looking for that little bit extra of puffy fun, we are having a camp out - see the common room for details.

Hello again everyone. Bridget Woods here again. This week I have decided to do things a little different. Once a month, or whenever I deem necessary, I will only interview one student and ask them serious questions, like a regular interview. This is to showcase my wonderful interviewing skills and showcase a student or professor in a more serious light. This week’s interviewee is none other than Adrian Adams, who is a seventh-year Ravenclaw, a Prefect and the Ravenclaw quidditch captain. Having met Adrian a couple times for quidditch practices and matches, I sensed that he was an interesting person and had lots to share with my readers. I met Adrian in the library and led him over to a dark corner that had two chairs. We sat down and I got my quill and parchment ready and began the interview:

Bridget Woods: Thanks for meeting with me Adrian and showing interest in doing an interview for the Pensieve. Are you ready to begin?
Adrian Adams: “Ah, no problem. And yeah, so have at it.”
BW: So Adrian this is your last year here at Hogwarts. What is the one memory you will never forget and will cherish long after you have left Hogwarts’ halls?
AA: One memory I will never forget. Er. That is a really tough question,” he laughed, “I don’t think I have just one. I mean, I could say one now but then think of another even better. Like right now I’m thinking of this wicked snowball fight I had with a couple of friends back when I was a fourth year. Snowball fights in general, out on the lawns were always awesome. But I think [of] the people I’ve met and all the friends that I’ve made are what really makes all those memories memorable. That’s what I’ll remember and cherish most, anyway.”
BW: Moving on, do you have any special talents or anything that we should know about?
AA: “I don’t know if you’d call it a special talent, but I’ve always been told I’ve got a green thumb; that I’m just naturally really good with plants, both magical and non-magical. I guess it’s [be]cause I talk to them,” he laughed, “I don’t know. I don’t think [that] I’ve got any.”
BW: So I hear that this year you were the Ravenclaw quidditch team captain and played position as seeker. What was the most challenging thing for you as the team captain?
AA: “Ah, I think just getting a really good, solid group of players together and training them in the game as best I can. That I think was the most challenging. [Be]cause playing the actual games are fun. I don’t really think of them as a challenge, just as something fun to play. Quidditch is all about having fun.”
BW: What are your plans after graduating Hogwarts?
AA: “Ah, the big question!” He laughed, “I’ve honestly have no clue. I’ve always wanted to be a Herbology professor, so I might try and do that. Then again, I’ve always wanted to be a rockstar too,” he laughed again, “I’m not sure. I think I need to go sit with the guidance counselor and find out my options,” he shrugged with a smile.
BW: Does your wand have any special abilities?
AA: “My wand? Er. I’ve got a 10 inch Cherry Oak wand with Phoenix and Jobberknoll feathers. I think it’s supposed to be a fairly good wand for Charms and Transfiguration spells or something. I believe that. I’m excellent at Charms, and Transfiguration too, but I don’t really care for Transfiguration much. Charms though, I love Charms.”
BW: Sounds like you had to think about that for a minute. So what would you say that you would need to grow on in order to be a better wizard?
AA: “Hmm…I don’t know. Magic-wise? Maybe defensive magic. I personally think I suck at defending myself. I don’t think I’m that quick in situations like that,” he laughed, “but yeah, I guess to just continue learning with whatever I end up doing. Learning will always make you better.”
BW: Spoken like a true Ravenclaw. What would be your favorite spell to use and why?
AA: “Err…Rictusempra.” He grinned, “I like making people laugh. It’s really a fun spell.”
BW: What happens when you do it?
AA: “It uncontrollably tickles whoever you cast it on.”
BW: O h ok. I wasn’t sure. What would you say would be your motivation for everything that you do?
AA: “My motivation? I don’t know. I tend to do things that I like, that I enjoy. I think that’s where most of my motivation comes from. I’ve got a lot of self-motivation when it comes to things I enjoy to do. I try to be the best I can and just do things for me.”
BW: You mentioned before that you really like Herbology. What is your favorite plant to work with and what is it about Herbology that draws you in?
AA: “I have this thing for Asphodels. It was the first plant that I ever got to take of myself in Herbology and it was then that I was first told I had a knack for the subject. I think I was [a] third year and I had Professor Felicity Lash–er–Shukurova. Asphodels are fairly harmless, nothing really special about them, but the powder root of an asphodel plant is used a lot in potions making. It’s one of the main ingredients in the Draught of Living Death, actually. But if it wasn’t asphodels, I think my favorite plant would have to be Flitterblooms. And what draws me in? Well, I feel very calm when I’m planting and taking care of plants. I’ve always liked nature; I practically grew up in my aunt’s garden–or so she says–I don’t actually remember spending all of my time out there like she says I did. But yeah, I feel comfortable and it’s great. ”
BW: What does Ravenclaw mean to you as your house? What are some words that you think accurately describe what Ravenclaw is all about?
AA: “Books,” he chuckled, “really, I associate books with Ravenclaw, which is really weird cause I don’t read much at all myself. Books equal smarts and Claw has the reputation for being the smartest house. But yeah. I love Claw and everyone in Claw. It feels like home to me. Then again, I don’t really know any other house like I know Ravenclaw. But yeah. Books and smarts. We’re a bunch of chill, cool people too.” He laughed again.
BW: Alright Adrian last question. I know that I am practically dying to know and I am sure that my readers are too. Tell me something that most people don’t know about you.
AA: “Hmm…something people won’t know about me. Er, probably that I used to be a troublemaker. My aunt always says that sending me to Hogwarts was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I was the menace at my Muggle school. And it’s not like those things of my magic flaring up when I was angry and stuff–though that did happen quite a bit and it scared my headmaster senseless–that got me in trouble. I just liked to pull pranks, crack jokes and drive people insane. I would always be suspended from school, never fully expelled because my teachers would all say that I was a good student, like smart and everything, just a little troubled. They always blamed it on my parents’ deaths or something. But yeah. I don’t exactly know what changed when I got here. I think I straightened out because as a first year, I was crazy scared of a few professors here. I mean, I remember I used to crack the most corniest jokes on the face of this earth, and I used to scare people by jumping out from behind those suits of armor on the second floor. Stupid stuff like that. I think I got like one or two detentions as a second year and I think that scared me enough to never try to get one again.” He laughed. “I don’t know. I’ve definitely changed since I was a kid. I guess I just found new interests, and for the sake of my aunt and uncle, ones that were actually productive. But yeah, no one would ever think of me, Adrian Adams as a troublemaker ha. My name and that word just don’t seem to mesh. I totally don’t come across that way now at all.”
BW: Well thanks a lot Adrian for letting us take some time out of your busy schedule and letting us get to know you a little bit better.
AA: “No problem.”

As a wizard, after taking a shower we simply just whisper a spell to dry and style our hair for the day. Have you ever wondered how muggles do this same action? They use a contraption with a fitting name called a hair dryer. It is run by electric (which we covered last week) and is shaped like the gun you see some muggles in the police department wear. It creates heat that dries the hair, they wave it across their hair in sections. It is also used to style their hair such as to curl it or straighten it using different movements. Perhaps this contraption can dry and style our hair better than a spell? Try it and get back to me next week!

I am happy to say that the vampires have made friends with some of the employees of the Ministry of Magic and it has been rumored that negotiations are in the works as to living cohabitably with each other. Thank you all for listening to my advice and allowing such opportunities to occur. Perhaps another group to add to our allies against the famous He Who Should Definitely Die by now.

It’s a new month and a new celebration. The Puffs are out and about celebrating their house. Make sure you take a look around. From what I hear there is a lot going on. Congrats to those that are in the Sly court. Especially the King and Queen. Go Viv and Horatio. On a side note: King H, your nephew said “I think I might hurl…I mean with happiness. Because that happens sometimes. Instead of crying BAM! you just puke everywhere.”

Apparently our favorite stuttering Puff is off his leash again and is serving in the Puff court. Maybe his master will pay him a visit there? Green always livens up a room…don’t you agree?

During a recent trip to Hogsmeade our dear Slytherin germaphobe/clean freak’s gf was spotted with a different blond Slytherin getting ice cream. Trouble in paradise or is Mr. Hand Sanitizer too busy passing out hand sanitizer? One can only wonder.

Ohh also from Hogsmeade, it looks like half of the Bizzy duo was seen there buying candy for his lady. Was he being sweet *gag* or in trouble? This just in….there is a reservation at Madame Puddifoots for the duo. Ohh la la or something.

In the world of yellow, there is a Puff serving detention. Who could’ve imagined that?

Rumor has it that the staff of our beloved school is in Hogsmeade plotting ways to bore us to death next term. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.

Just an FYI, Borgin & Burkes will be carrying the Tricky Treat Sweet Shoppe line very, very soon. That’s not a rumor, by the way, it’s fact from one of the owners and the owner of Borgin & Burkes.

on another note, does anyone know if L.W. is still in the fetal position and/or hiding? Buttercup…where are you?
