Ravenclaw House Update

Posted by Lyra Elani  Published in December 18th 2009

Ravenclaw Report
By Beatrice Langley

Ravenclaw Report is here to bring you the latest happenings inside the Ravenclaw House! First off, we’d like to extend our warmest welcomes to Professor Jason Matthews and Professor Vincent Chambers as our newest Ravenclaw professors! Now, a few reminders about this holiday season’s events:

The Holiday Treats set up for exclusively for Claws are located in different places throughout Ravenclaw Tower and Hogsmeade. Come and join the Blue Winter Party located at the Forbidden Fruits in Hogsmeade or if not much of a party person, decorate the Christmas Tree situated in the common room and make a wish! Not Christian? Don’t fret for our Head of Houses took that into consideration and set up the Festival of Lights for you!

Don’t forget about the long list of RP challenges to be done! Doing them will earn you house points and an entertaining time! If you think there’s an activity lacking, you can also add to the list of challenges to be done. Just post in that particular thread and you’re good to go. Also, there’s a special category in our forums aptly named the Riddle Chamber, and all Claws are encouraged to try and solve the riddle that’s placed in the description area. For further information and other inquires, you can check out the Nest News; there’s a thread in there made especially for that. Claws are reminded that registrations for the House video are almost over so if you want to be included, better sign up now! The thread for that is located in our Games & OOC. Sign-ups end on December 23.

Posted in our Nest News, Professor Caroline Moncrief has invited all you Claws to the Wreath Making, located in the Green Houses. Points are given if you join but you may opt not to join. You still should, though. This holiday season, the more the merrier!

Got talent? Our awesome Head of House, Professor Adreia Kragen, has invited all graphic makers to make a Christmas and/or New Year’s themed banners to be shown off at the top of the board. The current graphic you see is made by our very own Darla Greer, who just also happens to be the Writer of the Week.
To all older Claws, the Ravenclaw Helpers are looking for people to show the newer people the tricks and perks of being a Claw! Points are awarded to those who do an awesome job so if you like making points, sign up now! To the younger and newer batches of Claw, you’re encouraged to sign-up there! Think of it as a Claw-only New Kids at Hogwarts Program.

Last but not the least, winter enrollments are now open so better go to your student offices and enroll in those classes now! Professors will close their classes if they’ve met the quota of students so if you want to make sure you get the class you want, the earlier the better!

That’s all for the Ravenclaw Report. Please contact Beatrice Langley if you think she missed something or would just like to add something.

Safety Advice

Due to events occuring at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, we feel obligated to issue a few safety precautions to the inhabitants of Hogwarts and surrounding areas. First off, unless you have been stupefied over the past few weeks, you would know that Hogwarts has been over-run by dark wizards. These wizards are not the friendly sort, and would more likely injure you severely, were you to approach them.

Stay in groups as you go about the school. Of course this does not mean the dark wizards will leave you alone, but it could cause them to hesitate long enough for you all to escape somehow. Everyone needs to remember, safety first!

Slytherin House Update

Posted by Lyra Elani  Published in December 18th 2009

Inside the Snake Pit

First and foremost, I’d like to welcome Professors Lovingsgood, Makenzie, Lovingsgood and Montgomery into the Slytherin House. On behalf of me and the rest of the Slytherins, congrats and we hope you actually last long enough to complete the term!

As for our Holiday business, we were apparently invited to decorate wreaths. Did anyone actually do that? If so, let me know. I’m curious to see who actually went to that thing and what happened with it. We also have our Slytherin Holiday party going on currently at Borgin and Burkes. So make sure you show up and participate in whatevers going on there. Professor Cuore is willing to give out points for those that attend.

Now, I know most you younger Slytherins have seen a certain Elise Cuore running things around the house for a while. Well dont get used to her. Viviane is back. She’s your actual Deputy Head of house. So make sure you all remember Viviane and Rici for your Superlatives. Thats Professor Rici Devlin and Professor Viviane Cuore. And this writer is in no way plugging either one. But I hear cupcakes are handed to those that vote either way.

Out of all the Rp challenges given out, so far one has been completed, though we do have a few ones still going on. Yes, Prenela Parval and Vince Ortega, (not to be confused with yours truly) have taken it upon themselves to skateboard in the Great Hall. Though I heard they had a race with no winner in the outcome. Personally I could have wiped the floor with the both of them.

Like most of the houses and clubs at the school, the Slytherins have their own student they vote for and acknowledge for a certain period of time. Though theirs is called the Sly of Whenever, which gives Prof. Cuore the free reign to set it up whenever she wants to. Id like to give a shout out to my tie partner, Scorpius Malfoy for our win from this previous vote!

And lastly, have you ever wondered what the Slytherins talk about when they are in their private domains? Well currently they are discussing cupcakes. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, your Slytherins do enjoy cupcakes. Most prefer the tastes from a certain pensieve writer.

Check back next time to read the thrilling tales of Wreath makers and a bathroom Slumber Party.

In The Halls

Posted by Lyra Elani  Published in December 18th 2009

For many students, choosing which classes to enrol in at the start of a new term is a daunting thing. There are so many courses to choose from, with Winter Term class topics ranging from ‘Quidditch through the Ages’ to ‘Alchemy 101′, making it even more difficult for students to pick what subjects they wish to do. Lizzadora Chantilly took to the hallowed halls of Hogwarts to find out student’s favourite classes.

jack
Jack Driscal
5th (going on 6th) year
Hufflepuff
“Anything to do with Charms, it’s my favorite class of all time! But if I had to chose it’d probably be household charms, it’s great and practical.”

vince
Vince Ortega
4th year
Slytherin
“Well, It’s Hard to say just one. There are a few really. But I’ve always loved quidditch and Flying, So I really enjoy Flying class and this term, i’m taking Quidditch through the ages which I’m looking forward to. I also enjoyed taking basic potions even if it seemed too basic for my year level.”

horatio
Prof. Horatio Lovingsgood
Transfiguration Professor and
Slytherin House Affilate
“As a youngster, my family traveled around so much, that I didn’t attend any school, let alone Hogwarts. But, I did have an uncle who would tutor me and my sister Hortensia (who teaches Potions and Astronomy at Hogwarts) in many subjects. Of the sort that are taught at Hogwarts, my favorites are Transfiguration and Potions.”

kitty
Kitty Thomas
3rd year
Ravenclaw
“Well, i enjoy the subjects where i can use my wand. You know, charms and transfiguation. I enjoy the practical magic classes. I really enjoyed the basic charms course i took last year. We were able to learn knew spells, and to practice them on the dummies. I enjoyed the practial lessons, but i also enjoyed learning where the spells came from.”

dom
Dominique Weasley
5th year
Gryffindor
“I think that would be Wand Making Techniques. I took the Basic course this term , and will the take the Advanced one the next term, most likely! Why do I like it? It’s Charms, duh!”

If you have a topic that you think students should be asked, PM Lizzadora Chantilly!

Until next time,
xoxo
Lizzadora

Gryffindor House Upates

Gryff Greatness

By: Lily Potter

Gryff Greatness will contain House Updates within Gryffindor House. There will also be reminders, if need be, for our housemates. To start this off, I’m proud to announce our

Lion of the Month,
Albus Severus Potter!

Here is a little bit of information about him: Albus is a 3rd year Gryffindor Prefect, just like mum, dad, James and nearly everyone else in our family. He can usually be found with his nose stuck in a book somewhere, much like our Aunt Hermione, but not as brainy, (no wonder he doesn’t have a girlfriend yet). Albus’ interests vary and are ever changing. At the moment, he is reading an odd sort of book series about muggles. His favorite subject is Transfiguration. Hopefully he’ll do better than Uncle Ron. The last bit to share with you is, Al likes Quidditch, but it is unlikely that you will see him on Gryffindor’s Quidditch team.

Speaking of Quidditch, it is that time again, so Gryff students should sign up if they would like to try out. Remember to make sure you meet the requirements beforehand. If you have any questions regarding the team, requirements and positions.. contact (via pm by clicking name) Prof. Lena Svarri or Oliver Wood Jr.

Gryffindor House gained several new Professors to our staff. Please welcome:

    • Prof. Allysyn Anderson
    • Prof. Celestina Smerch
    • Prof. James Potter
