Glance in Advance

glance
By:Seymore Whydontcha

I awoke with a feeling of excitement this morning. Sort of like a child on Christmas day, I felt as though something amazing was waiting for me in my parlor. Sure enough, the moment I walked through the door, I noticed a beautiful new crystal ball sitting where my old one had been. Of course, I am very pleased with this lovely gift, but I did question who could have placed it there. You see, I have protective enchantments on my home, like every wise witch and wizard, which would have bet set off if anyone tried to enter without my permission. Also, my old one was nowhere in my house.. another enigma.

Pushing aside my confusion as to where my old crystal ball went, and how the new one arrived, I hurried over to look into the beautiful shiny ball. This one had different colored lights flashing about inside, to alert me there was something to see. I made myself comfortable and gazed into the depths of crystal.

The scene unfolding inside was of Hogwarts, and a battle between students. This, you may think is normal, considering the rival houses, but there were students from the same house fighting one another, and no, I don’t mean practicing either. You could see that some of the students looked as though they were evil.. completely unlike the other students in their house. The students continued fighting, as around them, Aurors, other Ministry workers and adult witches and wizards were fighting the dark wizards that invaded the castle. The fighting intensifies as the adults seem to fill all viewable areas, then the scene closes. Taking away my chance to see the outcome of the battle.

I urge all inhabitants of Hogwarts, and surrounding areas to PLEASE be on the lookout for a battle. I do not know when this is to take place, but I can assure you, it will take place!

Getting to Know Our New School Counselor

Interview with Rehema Voss
By: Emma Felton

rehema

  • Rehema Voss was born in Michigan on March 20th, 1985. After her mothers untimely death her father uprooted the small family and moved back into his Mother’s London home. When Rehema was six, her father remarried to a wonderful woman who considers Rehema her first child. Rehema attended Hogwarts and graduated with flying colors, her best subject was Charms and Divinations. But she was most interested in a non-wizarding subject, Psychology. She attended the University of Aberdeen, disguised as a muggle. At first the transaction from magical world to muggle world was difficult, but she soon learned to function without magic, and inevitably got addicted to muggle Television. Her friends staged an intervention, and with all distractions aside she graduated as one of the youngest Aberdeen students with a master in School Psychology. She applied as a guidance counselor at Hogwarts, and currently assists the students with OWLs, NEWTs, and career choices. She is currently 24.
  • Emma Felton: Well, let’s get down to business shall we? What inspired you to become a counselor at Hogwarts?
Rehema Voss: Well, I just graduated from Aberdeen University, a Muggle college, with a degree in school psychology and just decided, might as well try and apply for a job at Hogwarts! It’s always been a dream of mine to work here after school.
Emma Felton: Yes, Hogwarts is a very wonderful school. Well, all day you probably listen to the problems of students. Tell me, what’s the hardest thing for you about being a counselor? How do you address that?
Rehema Voss: Well, the hardest thing is when the students really don’t know what they want to be or do after school. Sometimes people just haven’t thought of life after Hogwarts, and its hard to bring them back to reality. It can be difficult to find out interests and possible careers and futures for someone who hasn’t thought about it at all. But normally I suggest they think it over more, what interests them, what they enjoy about their life.
Emma Felton: What have you most enjoyed about your job here thus far?
Rehema Voss: I love the point when it all clicks together for a student, and they have a plan. You can almost see the gears grinding, and then there is something in the eyes, and it all makes sense for them.
Emma Felton: I bet the students feel more accomplished at that point too. So, what do you think is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you so far here at Hogwarts?
Rehema Voss: Oh gosh. Nothing really comes to mind! Well, my first day I slept in late and almost missed my very first appointment, but no one noticed, so it was more of a personal embarrassment!
Emma Felton: Interesting. So I’m sure sometimes you feel frustrated when provoked, what are some things you do to help you cope?
Rehema Voss: Well, a cup of peppermint tea and good novel has brought me through many a difficult times. And when I was at University I became rather obsessed with muggle sitcoms on the television.
Emma Felton: So you’re Muggleborn, correct?
Rehema Voss: No actually, both my parents are magical. They were rather shocked by my decision to masquerade as a Muggle while at college. But I felt very strongly about Psychology and an education, and the best way to do that was at a Muggle school.
Emma Felton: True. So before, you said you enjoy a good novel and Muggle sit-coms? What would you say is your most favourite novel and sitcom?
Rehema Voss: Well, you cant beat the classics, and I’ve always adored Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I cant really name a favorite sitcom, I watched so many, I did always enjoy the ones centered around hospitals. I find Muggle medicine very interesting and probably funnier then it is supposed to be!
Emma Felton: Well, on behalf of the Hogwarts students I wish you welcome to Hogwarts! I hope you’re here for many terms to come. Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know?
Rehema Voss: Thank you, I hope to be here for a while also. Just that my door is always open if they need anything!

    Inside the Snake Pit

Posted by Lyra Elani  Published in January 8th 2010

    By Vincent G. Goyle

Ok all you pensieve readers, you will never ever believe what went down this week in the Slytherin house!

Dorm room invasion! Yes thats right, everyone’s dorm was invaded…with Fire Crabs! Oh no! Anyone who’s bed was caught on fire now resides in the common room with a sleeping bag until matters can be fixed.

Which brings me to my next part of news. There was a random floating head chilling out in the common room. Hate to say it but homie was still wide awake and insulting those that went by. No one has any idea where he came from so far but if you hear anything, let me know! Hes definitely fun to chat with, unless of course you have to sleep in the room with him now. Good luck guys! My bed’s still safe and we’re best friends now!.

Speaking of best friends, the not so forgotten about Beauxbatons Transfer student, Adam Flint, returned to the house…as a French, Brain Eating Zombie! Ahhh! I know! Which is why most of us, the smarter half, wore Flint Proof helmets. If only we had these things before he transferred and became a Zombie. Though quite unfortunately, we had to bash his brains in before we could release him on the puffs. Safety measures and blah blah blah. You know the drill. We threw his body down by the lake so if you find it, send it back to France.

In other news, theres a banshee hidden in the closet of our Boys dorm room number five. We found it hiding in there the other morning. Any puff willing to test out its killing effect, please contact a member of the Slytherin Royalty for more information on the matter.

Lastly, theres currently a Chinese Fireball hiding in our dungeon quarters. If anyone would like to adopt him, please let us know. Its yours. If not, then guess what Slytherins! We totally have a new mascot now.

Alright, fine, I’m kidding. Absolutely none of this happen or is real. It was just a slow week so I thought I’d entertain you all. Ha ha and stuff. However, we do still need a few more people to sign up for Quidditch. Anyone interested can find it in the Nagini Times section.

Ok little children, thats it for this week. Til next week, keep your shoes polished, your hair slick and your underwear clean! You never know when a Slytherin will attack and you wanna look your best when they find your body!
