Special Notice

Posted by Lyra Elani  Published in January 28th 2010

This Special notice is to remind ALL STUDENTS to READ THE HANDBOOK, and to learn and follow the rules of the site.

There have been far too many students posting in the character library trying to claim celebrities when they have only 5 (sometimes less) posts. The requirement is 15 posts before you may claim a celeb.

Anyone who posts there without at least 15 post count, will have their banner removed.. as stated by our Headmistress Prof. Luna Sniyder.

Gryff Quidditch News

I will begin our house update by saying Congratulations to our awesome Quidditch team! Captain Oliver Wood Jr. led our team to victory against the Ravenclaw team in the first game of the season. Though we did win the match, it was due to Ravenclaw having to forfeit due to an incomplete team roster at game time. Since Gryffindor had a complete team line-up with a reserve on standby, the decision to play was up to us (meaning our Quidditch Captain Wood, and the rest of the team). The Ravenclaw team had only 5 players. Our line up for that game was:

    • Keeper Casinelli
    • Seeker Beckett
    • Beater Chantilly
    • Beater Costa
    • Chaser Elani
    • Chaser Gryffin
    • Chaser Wood
    • Reserve Felton

Other Gryff News

We would like to thank our Gryffindor Student Leaders for the event they set up for our all our Gryffies. Please come and join in the fun, and take the time to meet the rest of your house mates.

Once again, we’d like to remind you that writers are still needed for the Gryffindor History Volumes. Please check out the list and if you’re interested in writing any, put in your request, and Prof. Svarri will get back to you. If you need any help, or are unsure how to get started, you may ask Prof. Svarri, Prof. Moncrief, or Prof. MacArthur.

Also, Prof. Svarri has set up a banner challenge for all her Gryffies to take part in, please check the topic, and try your hand with graphics. Prof. Moncrief has an ongoing rp challenge set up, for those of you interested in earning points and having fun at the same time.

House Point Update

Just in case you haven’t noticed the totals listed on the main office board, or on the sidebar, I’m listing the totals here. The latest house point totals, (as listed on the main office page and the sidebar) are as follows:

    • Gryffindor ~ 26571
    • Hufflepuff ~ 23796
    • Ravenclaw ~ 24934
    • Slytherin ~ 13702

As you can see, Gryffindor is in the lead. Don’t fool yourself into thinking we’ve won the cup yet. We have to continue earning house points by entering contests, doing rp challenges etc. Lets show our Gryffindor Pride, and make our HoH, and DHoH’s more proud of us than they already are!

Quidditch Report

Ravenclaw V.S. Gryffindor
By Nick Shwimmer

Hello Everyone! I’m glad to say the Winter Quidditch Season HAS BEGUN! This means that the Quidditch Reports are beginning again! If you liked the fictional writings… sorry! I will do those between seasons. Anyway, I’m Nick Shwimmer (still), and this… rather short article is brought to you by me! On Sunday, January 24th, the announcement was posted at 5:45pm EST. This game was between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, so find everything you need to know about the game here!

The Team Rosters!
Ravenclaw
Captain Seeker: Adams
Beater: Kalista
Chaser: Woods
Chaser: Thomas
Keeper: Summers

*Ravenclaw did not have a full Roster

Gryffindor

Seeker: Beckett
Beater: Costa
Beater: Chantilly
Captain Chaser: Wood
Chaser: Gryffin
Chaser: Elani
Keeper: Casinelli
As Ravenclaw did not have a full Roster, the referees gave the decision to the Captains, who decided to not play. Therefore, the game was forfeited by Ravenclaw and 150 points were awarded to Gryffindor.

The Final Score!

Ravenclaw: 0 Points
Gryffindor: 150 Points

Current Standings
Gryffindor: 150 Points
Hufflepuff: 0 Points
Ravenclaw: 0 Points
Slytherin: 0 Points

The NEXT Game is between Hufflepuff and Slytherin next weekend on January 30th or 31st. For this game, I will not be here, so someone else will be writing this!

Thanks Lyra Elani for the Banner!

Game of the Week

Posted by Lyra Elani  Published in January 28th 2010

Game of the Week

Alright everyone, instead of a crossword puzzle this week you will be getting a different game. This is just so it’s not repetitive and also because I didn’t have enough time to create a crossword this time. The rules are simple, follow the code, make sure to provide your ID when you PM it to Emma Felton. On the following Pensieve, a list of winners will be announced and that will also be the deadline for the entries.

For this particular game, all you have to do is simply provide me with the correct name of who said the following quote, “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

If you have any question, comments, or concerns, feel free to PM Emma Felton.

Writer of the Week

Posted by Lorinda Swansong  Published in January 28th 2010

I sent an owl to this week’s winner along with the following banner I made in her honor.

Lovely, isn’t it? My sources tell me she fought the urge to throw the letter away, thinking it was one from a Nigerian prince or a “Congrats! You’re one of our lucky winners!”, so naturally, she looked at the announcement that she had won, with a certain sceptism. But since this wasn’t the first time she had heard from the Hogwarts Penseive, she decided to grace it with yet another brief response.

My name is Aranel Masen Rose.
I am in the Slytherin house, of course.
I am 15 years old.
An interesting fact about me is that I don’t care for reading the Pensieve.
My favorite subject at Hogwarts is Negative Magic.
My worst subject at Hogwarts is nonexistent.
Outside of class, my favorite past time is [s]hexing[/s] teaching younger students the proper way to behave within the school.
Three words I would use to describe myself are “measured”, “agile” and “constructive”.
Three words my friends would use to describe me are “poised”, “intelligent” and “scary” - yes, I’ve actually heard the last one, which amused me to no end.
When I was announced WOTW, I felt as elated as any Slytherin expecting to win would be.

She didn’t care too much for the banner, but that’s to be expected - I spelt her name wrong! Looks like I’ve got an enemy! Hooray! Who will be WOTW next week?

Many thanks to Aranel Masen Rose’s writer, for the insider info.

Strange Hobby Epidemic Sweeping the Muggle World

Sources inside a muggle news agency report several muggle women have developed a curious hobby of “recording” their husbands as they talk in their sleep. Apparently there is a device they use that duplicates whatever they say onto some type of special tape. Anywho, this hobby has been a key factor in an unusual amount of marriages ending between muggle couples. Of course, the couples who are still together, are having a great laugh over the odd things the husband says in his sleep.

One muggle man, who is usually always serious, with absolutely no sense of humor, has learned that he is an amazing comedian - however this only happens in his sleep. He is currently trying to figure out a way to earn money telling jokes on stage, while sleeping. If this isn’t strange enough for you, another muggle man - an aspiring author, “reads” stories he’s written in his dreams. Luckily for him, he learned through the recordings his wife made, that these stories are much better than those he’d written while awake.

This strange hobby would certainly cause quite a ruckus in the wizarding world. Of course, we wouldn’t need a muggle recording device, but if the witches decided to find out everything their husbands say in their sleep, we would have a war unlike anything we’ve ever known.

Ravenclaw Report

Posted by Nick Shwimmer  Published in January 28th 2010

By Nick Shwimmer

Hello Fellow Claws! It’s me again! Anyway, let’s take a look at what has been happening in our WONDERFUL house!

Top Headlines
• Keep doing the RP Challenges! There are still MANY to go!
• Quidditch Information Below!: Captain Adams would like to remind everyone that we can always use Alternates! Sign up now!
• STILL looking for one more person to solve the Riddle!

Raven’s Key Report
Unfortunately, Ravenclaw was forced to forfeit the last game on January 24th due to being short TWO players! For that reason, we would like to remind everyone that we would like a good solid team as soon as possible! This includes the alternates that we are always interested in. If you’d like to apply, feel free to post Here! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Captain Adrian Adams.
Nevertheless, there is going to be a Ravenclaw Quidditch Meeting on SAT JAN 30, 2010 @ 1PM EST. This time and date is subject to change, though. If this time is an issue, contact our Quidditch Captain A.S.A.P.!

Interview with the Quidditch Captain
To better understand the situation and reaction to the recent game, I asked our Captain a few questions. So, here are Adrian’s responses!

1. What was your immediate reaction to forfeiting the game?
Immediate reaction…. I thought it was fair, since we didn’t have a full team and Gryffindor had every right to take the win.

2. How likely do you think it would have been for Ravenclaw to win had we had all 7 Players available?
It would have been a possibility. At least, I had a positive outlook that we might win. I mean, those of us who showed were looking forward to playing and I went in there prepared to find the snitch as fast I could to end the game and snag the 150 Points as well as the win for Ravenclaw.

3. Do you think Ravenclaw can make an easy recovery from this game?
Hopefully. Though, my main concern after this first game is just to reevaluate the team and really, get more Claws involved so we would have reserves on hand and wouldn’t have to forfeit in the chance we come up a player short. I’m almost sure if we had a good, solid list of players just to play the game, we could win. But I don’t know for sure. Just hopeful.

Wizard Found Wandering the Hillside

A Wizard with absolutely no memory to speak of, was found wandering the Hillside near Devonshire, by Ms. Ophelia Paddington. Ms. Paddingtong is a squib, and lives in a small house a short distance from where the wizard was found. Upon asking him his name, the wizard’s reply was; “Wonk ton od I.” Ms. Paddington, ironically understood what he’d said, and escorted him to St. Mungo’s for treatment.

Healers at St. Mungo’s are completely baffled as to the cause of the wizards memory loss, but are grateful that Ms. Paddington remains by the mans side, to translate things he says. Experts have been brought in to extract memories from the wizard, in order to find out what they can using a pensieve. However, no memories what so ever are there to extract. Ministry officials seem to think this is the work of dark wizards. It is possible this wizard knew something the dark wizards would not risk having him share with anyone.
